Governance

BBFAW is governed by an independent secretariat, which is responsible for providing a programme executive director and other resources necessary to coordinate the development of the Benchmark, to conduct the annual company research and evaluations, and to manage the accompanying dialogue with companies and other stakeholders.

The BBFAW programme has been developed with the support, technical expertise and funding of leading animal welfare organisations, Compassion in World Farming and World Animal Protection since its inception in 2012.
